Srinivasan > Three Idiots in Colour

I was in Kaziranga between 26th and 30th January 2010.

On the evening of 27th I decided to shoot some images at sunset in the Wester region of the park. My guide Konwar and I had discussion and disagreement on where to park ourselves and I convinced him about a spot which is “unusual” according to him. Sun had almost set and there was the last light when both of us heard an alarm.

Careful scanning of the horizon on the opposite side was followed by an excited whisper of “Tiger” by Konwar. Sure there was one at about 500 feet away among the thick grass and bush. I had my camera with 70 – 200 with TC 1.4. and took three images for the record. Then decided to change the lens to my favourite 600 mm AFS VR and had a go at the Tiger. My driver thought I was talking to my camera when I said “One, Two, Three”. I was actually counting the tigers! A mother and her two cubs.

By the time my friends, attracted by the frantic waves of my guide arrived at the site, it was too late. All lasted for a minute or two.

I am glad I did three things right – insisting on where we stayed, buying my dream camera – Nikon D3S and shooting at an amazing ISO of 5000!! Here is one of the images in colour and B&W. More pictures of this will follow.
